What we collect
We collect the minimum information needed to run the app and improve stability. We do not access your photos, files, microphone, contacts, or location unless you explicitly grant permission for a feature that requires it.
- Account basics — the email address used to sign in and your child's age band (so the AI tutor can pitch lessons at the right level).
- Learning activity — which lessons were opened, which quizzes were answered, and the progress percentages used to render your dashboard.
- Diagnostics — anonymised crash logs and performance metrics, used solely to fix bugs.
How we use data
Data is used strictly to operate the app, personalise the AI tutor's explanations, deliver progress reports to parents, and provide customer support when you contact us.
We never use your data for advertising, behavioural profiling, or for training third-party AI models.
Sharing & selling
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data — ever. A small number of vetted infrastructure partners (cloud hosting, crash reporting, payment processing) handle data on our behalf under strict contractual safeguards.
We share data with authorities only when legally compelled to do so.
Website analytics
On some pages of this website we use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site. They collect usage and interaction data, such as pages viewed, clicks, scrolling, device and browser type, and approximate location. Microsoft Clarity also records sessions so we can see how visitors move through a page. Text typed into forms is masked and never recorded. Both services use cookies and similar technologies to do this. They apply only to this website, not to the getXplain.ai app's lessons.

Children's data
getXplain.ai is built for kids. We are COPPA and GDPR-K compliant: we do not collect personally identifying information from children without verified parental consent, and we never use children's data for advertising.

Your rights & control
You can request a copy of your data, correct inaccurate information, revoke permissions from your device's settings, or delete your account entirely at any time.
Email privacy@getxplain.ai and we'll action data requests within 30 days.
Updates to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect new features or evolving regulations. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the latest revision, and material changes are emailed to account holders.
